IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER CLEARANCE INFORMATION

Effective August 25, 2015, Pennsylvania State Law now requires that EVERY person who volunteers in our schools and has direct contact with students to have the necessary clearances on file with the school district.  The clearances are:

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34)
  • FBI Federal Criminal History Record (Act 114)

The two Pennsylvania Clearances are free.  The FBI Clearance is $27 but if you have resided in Pennsylvania for ALL of the past 10 years and have never been convicted of a Disqualifying Offense, you can request a Waiver of the FBI Fingerprint Clearance.  These clearances must be updated every five years.  EVERYONE who volunteers in our schools MUST have these clearances in order to volunteer.  Clearances and waivers must be submitted to the Administration Building (301 Church Road) and all volunteers will have their pictures taken and issued a Qualified Volunteer ID Card that must be worn every time when volunteering in the schools.  To learn how to obtain the clearances and what other paperwork is required, please go to: http://www.bpsd.org/VolunteerInformation.aspxPlease do not take your clearances/paperwork to the schools.

If you have not obtained your clearances yet, please do so as soon as possible.  If you have not brought your clearances to the Administration Building, you can do so on Thursday, September 24 from 2 to 7 PM.  If that date does not work for your schedule, please contact Mary Beth Gregg at 412-854-8402 to set up a time.

Again, you will not be able to volunteer until your clearances have been processed at the Administration Building by Mrs. Gregg and you have been issued a Qualified Volunteer ID Card.  If you currently have clearances, they may be no older than five years old and will expire five years after the oldest date of issue.  Thank you for helping us to enforce State Law.
